John Shufeldt, JD, MD, MBA, FACEP

John has spent more than three decades in healthcare startups and investing. During that time, John has experienced his share of success and failure and has learned more from the latter than the former. He practices emergency medicine and continues his pursuit of life-long learning. John has started and grown more than fifteen companies and has successfully exited thirteen.

John founded NextCare Urgent Care in 1993 to solve ED overcrowding. In 2010, he founded MeMD, a virtual healthcare platform used by more than 500 providers in 50 states, which later sold to Walmart. In 2015, he founded Tribal Health, an emergency medicine staffing and management company dedicated to improving the delivery of healthcare for Indigenous People. In addition to being an entrepreneur, John is also an active investor through his family office in more than a dozen health and med tech companies.
